Purple Haze - Smokey Eyes

Today, I'll show you my finished product at makeup school. It's purple smokey eyes!

The TOP 3 things I learnt:

  1.  The basics of smokey eyes look is creating a gradient. Darkest colour starts from the bottom lid, blending your way up to the crease of the eyes. It become lighter when blending up, to meet the highlight colour on the brow bone.
  2. You can use any dark to light colour to create a smokey look! examples: greens and yellow, navy blue and silver, black and grey.
  3. Blending is important! No harsh lines to create a beautiful smokey look.

Products Used:

For Face: Ben Nye oil based foundation and Ben Nye Translucent powder to set the cream foundation.

For Eyebrows: Dark Brown eyeshadow (Ben Nye)

For Eyes: Ben Nye black eyeliner pencil to line above the lash line and the water line, Ben Nye black eyeshadow to set the cream eyeliner, violet eyeshadow also Ben Nye.

For Lips: Ben Nye lip liner and the Ben Nye Colour wheel lip gloss.

As you can see, I wasn't able to record the actual names of numbers of the colours that I've used, and It's all Ben Nye products. The makeup school sells Ben Nye or Grimas cosmetics. These are professional grade makeup, used for theatres, TV and Film.

Quick Review on some products above:

Ben Nye Foundation--- I'm not a fan of the oil based foundation because it smells like crayon. It's quite difficult to blend in. It will cause a crease particularly on the eyelids. The plus for this product is, it's full coverage so the skin will look flawless. It lasts long as it is oil based.

Ben Nye lipgloss that comes in a wheel --- this product is quite good. Very reasonably priced. I think they sell it for about $35 AUD. But you get 8 different coloured lip gloss.

Ben Nye eyeshadow --- I love their eyeshadows! They are pigmented, apparently comparable to MAC. I can't really say because I haven't used MAC eyeshadows. They have an all matte natural colours palette which is very useful for bridal makeup artists.
